Blackrock Hospice Refurbishment Appeal
Transforming Blackrock Hospice for patients and their families
Vital upgrades for patients and families receiving end-of-life care
Blackrock Hospice, based in the heart of Blackrock village, is currently undergoing a major state-of-the-art redevelopment at a cost of c. €7m. Works will include significantly extending the 12 patient bedrooms and upgrades to clinical, patient, family, and communal areas. It will also include redeveloping & landscaping of the much-loved outdoor space and gardens. When complete later this year, it will greatly enhance the environment in which we provide palliative care for patients. In tandem, it will also support their loved ones.
100% of the construction costs c. €6.5m will be funded by donations from individuals, companies, and organisations within our community.
€4.8m has been successfully fundraised thus far, but there is an urgent need to raise a further €1.7m.
We are committed to providing, with loving care, the highest quality, person-centred palliative care services for all those who need it.
But we cannot do it without your support.
Please help support this essential refurbishment.

Door to Door Fundraisers
During the months of October & November our team of professional Door to Door fundraisers will be signing up new monthly donors in South County Dublin to help support the Blackrock Hospice Refurbishment Appeal. They’re easily identifiable by their branded clothing and carry ID at all times. If you can, please support by becoming a Monthly Donor you will make such a difference to the environment in which we provide care for our patients and their loved ones. Thank You.
Blackrock Hospice is currently closed for refurbishment
From 15th December 2021, Blackrock Hospice will relocate its operations while the works take place.
How does this impact patients?
There are no changes for those receiving visits in their home from our specialist community palliative care team, who will continue to operate as normal.
Out-patient appointments will be provided in 203 Merrion Road.
In-patients will be accommodated in either Harold’s Cross or Wicklow Hospice according to their preference and availability.
We look forward to welcoming patients and families back to the new improved facility in 2022.
The project will cost in the region of €6.5 million. Fundraising will fund 100% of the construction costs or c. €6 million. We have fundraised approximately €4.5 million (70%) to date and we urgently seek the support of the local and business community to reach our target in support of this ambitious and progressive project.
