This is the website of Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services (“OLHCS”, “our”,”we”, “us”).

OLHCS is registered with the Companies Registration Office (CRN352404) and the (Charities Regulatory Authority CRA20001827).

The purpose of this notice is to inform you of the personal data relating to you that we collect when you visit our website https://www.olh.ie and to help you to understand how this data is used, including disclosures to third parties.

OLHCS complies with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (“the GDPR”) and relevant Irish legislation, namely, the Data Protection Acts, 1988 – 2018 to protect your personal data related to the use of this website. For the purposes of our electronic direct marketing activities, we also comply with the provisions of the ePrivacy Regulations (SI 336/2011).

Data Controller

OLHCS is the Data Controller of all personal data that is collected and used about you in connection with your visit to our website.

We take our responsibilities under applicable data protection law very seriously. We are committed to protecting the privacy of all who contact us through this website and take our responsibility regarding the security of our service users, clients and donor’s personal data very seriously. We will be clear and transparent about the personal data we are collecting through our website and what we do with that data.

Collection and use of personal data

The only personal data about you collected by OLHCS in relation to your visit to our website is from information which you volunteer through, emailing us, applying for a job, sharing your story, registering for events, making a donation or using our on-line shop. This personal data may include:

  • your name and contact details, including your address, phone number and email address;
  • your education and qualifications;
  • your credit/debit card or bank account details;
  • your marketing preferences and
  • other personal data relating to you that you provide to us or that we generate about you in connection with your use of our website.

Using your personal data

We may use your personal data collected in connection with your visit to our website for a number of purposes including:

  • responding to a query or question raised
  • processing a job or volunteering application
  • processing a donation or claiming tax relief on donations where relevant
  • processing on-line sales
  • registering you for an event
  • responding to your marketing preferences

Lawful bases

Depending on the specific circumstance, the lawful bases on which we process your personal data are:

  • You have given consent for the processing of your personal data;
  • Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you or in order to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract;
  • Processing is necessary for compliance with our legal obligations;
  • Processing is necessary for the legitimate interests pursued by OLHCS and only where such interests do not interfere with your interests or fundamental rights.

Security of your personal data

OLHCS is committed to the security of your personal data and we have implemented appropriate technical and organisational measures to achieve this. We follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of your personal data, and to protect it against accidental loss, destruction or damage. The data you provide to us is protected in transit using Transport Layer Security (TLS) technology. TLS is the industry standard method of encrypting personal data and so that they can be securely transferred over the Internet. These security measures are reviewed on a regular basis.

We may disclose your data to trusted third parties for the purposes set out in our Data Protection Policy including IT service providers and marketing/mailing companies. We require all third parties to have appropriate technical and operational security measures in place to protect your personal data, in line with data protection legislation. We also have binding contracts in place with any third-party data processors.

Data retention

OLHCS will retain your personal data for as long as we need it for the purposes described above, or to comply with our obligations under applicable law and, if required, to deal with any claim or dispute that might arise between you and us. We will not hold your personal data for any longer than is necessary for the purpose for which we initially collected it.

Transfers of personal data abroad

There may be occasions where OLHCS may require personal data to be transferred abroad. Where any such transfer is to a country outside of the European Economic Area which does not have an Adequacy Decision from the European Union we will ensure that all the necessary safeguards are put in place prior to the transfer.

Children

This website is not intended for use by children, and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children. If you are under 16, please ensure that you have a parent or guardian’s permission before providing OLHCS with any personal data. If you provide us with personal data we will assume that you are over 16 and that you understand the terms of this Privacy Notice, unless you inform us otherwise.

Your rights

Individuals, referred to in GDPR as Data Subjects, have certain legal rights concerning their personal data and the manner in which it is processed by OLHCS. These include:

  • the right to get access to your personal data;
  • the right to request us to correct inaccurate personal data, or update personal data;
  • the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances;
  • the right to request the deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances;
  • the right to receive the personal data you provided to us in a portable format;
  • the right to object to us processing your personal data in certain circumstances;
  • the right to avoid automated decision making; and
  • the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission.

It should be noted that none of these rights are absolute and the ability to exercise your rights will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
