Mr Liam Woods

Liam is a recently retired Director of the HSE. He worked in the public health system from 1999 to 2024. Initially Liam worked as Finance Director of the Eastern Regional Health Authority and following the formation of the HSE undertook a number of roles as follows. Liam fulfilled roles as Director of Finance (2007 – 2012), Director of Shared Services (2012-2015) and Director of Acute Services including the National Ambulance Service and the National Transplant Programme (2015 to 2024). Liam undertook a lead role in the reorganisation of the HSE into 6 regions during 2022 to 2024 reporting to the CEO.

Prior to his work in the public health system Liam worked in the private sector as an accountant and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and graduate of University College Dublin (BA in Economics)
