Additional Information
A Teaching Hospice: Students
We are leaders in the field, and many people come to the Hospice to learn from us. Consequently, patients may meet or be treated by supervised students during their time in Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services. We are a teaching Hospice and have links with Trinity College (TCD), University College Dublin (UCD) and other universities. Many healthcare students come on ‘placement’ from their college or university to train in specialist Palliative Care for their discipline. These include medical students, postgraduate nursing students, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work, psychology and pastoral care students.

A Learning Hospice: Audit and Research
Audit and research are important to help us learn more about your needs and to help us to measure the care that we provide to you. Our aim in conducting audit and research is to improve knowledge and understanding. In doing so, we can ensure that we are providing high quality and safe care.

A Hospice for the Community: Fundraising Events
Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services is a registered charity, and many events are held during the year to fundraise for enhancements to benefit patients and their families as well as capital developments. At present fundraising for Wicklow Hospice is centred on meeting the bank loan of €2.75 million required to finish the building work.

A Sharing Hospice: On occasion journalists ask us to tell them more about the work of the Hospice. We feel that the best people to tell others about what we do are our patients and their families!
Where appropriate, we may approach willing patients or their families to take part in media interviews.
Occasionally, we invite members of the press to our in-house media events, but we ask the permission of all patients before taking their photos and respect their wishes at all times.
