Dublin Certificate in Evidence Based Dementia Care
The aim of the programme is to enhance the learner’s knowledge, skills and competence when providing person-centred holistic care and support to people living with dementia, and their family and carers.
- Understand dementia as a syndrome and the presenting characteristics of the most common subtypes of dementia.
- Discuss the concept of person-centred care and personhood and how these concepts underpin holistic dementia care.
- Understand the importance of effective interpersonal communication skills and apply person centred communication strategies when caring for people living with dementia and their carers.
- Support an understanding of the evolving and changing evidence as a consequence of research conducted on people living with dementia.
This course adopts a blended learning approach. Students will be required to be present onsite for three days during the course:
Day 1: Wednesday 25 March 2026
Day 2: Wednesday 15 April 2026
Day 3: Wednesday 27 May 2026 (assessment day, poster presentations)
