We do have limited access to an overnight room for family members; in general this is only offered to those families whose loved ones are in the last days of their life. We can, on occasion, set up make-shift beds or recliner chairs in patient rooms, if required. Longer term accommodation cannot be provided.

There is a good bus service from the City Centre to Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services, Blackrock. Bus routes: 4, 7, 8, 46e, 84, 84a, 114 and 118.

Limited parking space is provided for visitors and staff. There is no charge for the use of these facilities.

Patients are required to bring their own pyjamas, nightdresses, bed jackets, dressing gowns, slippers and toiletries. We provide and launder all bed linen and towels.  Arrangements should be made to launder patients’ personal clothing at home.  Locker/wardrobe facilities are available for personal day clothing, if required.

Letters and parcels are delivered to the wards on a daily basis. Patients can easily post letters , they need only ask their ward clerk about this. Only letters bearing a postage stamp will be mailed.

Phone calls can be put through to the main hospice reception desk Harold’s Cross: (01) 406 8700 Blackrock: (01) 206 4000 The team there are happy to answer all visitor enquiries and will re-direct your enquiry, if necessary. The reception is open 7 days a week from 8.00am – 10.00pm.

Yes, there is. Our restaurant provides snacks and full meal service. It is open Monday-Saturday from 9am until 5pm (closing between 2-3pm) and on Sunday and bank holidays from 9am until 4:30pm. Family and friends can accompany the patient to the restaurant where they can relax and enjoy each other’s company. The ward manager must be informed before a patient leaves the ward. The staff will always help families to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays and wedding anniversaries. There are vending machines in the restaurant should you require food or drink outside of the restaurant’s opening hours.

The hospice is a smoke-free zone. We do however provide a small smoking room, for patients’ use only. There are other designated smoking areas on the hospice grounds for visitors.
