Join our Trek to Austria and enjoy the most idyllic landscape while helping raise vital funds for Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services

For the adventurous among you who would love to see a different view of the world, unspoiled and far from the hubbub of busy city life, why not join us on our exciting snowshoeing adventure to Salzkammergut, Austria that takes place from 15th to 22nd February 2020.

Snowshoeing is a wonderful way to explore this beautiful and dramatic landscape. Previous experience is not required and our local guides will have you up and running (walking) in no time. All equipment is included.  Enjoy 7 days in this wonderful region of Austria staying in comfortable 4* Hotels.

Follow the pilgrimage trail over Mount Falkenstein, with a wonderful view over the lake and Wolfgangsee valley, and afterwards visit a nice coffee house in St. Gilgen to enjoy a hot chocolate.

We’ll drive up to the alpine pasture of Postalm at an altitude of 1,200 to 1,700 meters, then take a wonderful walk going from cabin to cabin with views of the spectacular glacier of Mount Dachstein along the way.

And we’ll also walk along Lake Wolfgangsee to the peninsula Abersee, then follow the Zinkenbach River into a small valley where you will see amazing icicles along the walls.

So join us this February for a once-in-a-life experience you will always remember –  trek through this stunning landscape with us and enjoy the breathtaking views of the lakes and mountains, then relax in a hot salt water spa and visit a famous pastry shop that delivered cake to the Emperor!

This promises to be a truly spectacular trip. The ask is similar to previous years: we need you to raise a minimum of €3,300 in return for which we can promise will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, with transfers, accommodation, food, guides included so all you need to do is bring your walking boots and a positive attitude to have some great fun, all the while raising vital funds for the front line services of Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services.

To help you along the way, once again this year we will be offering you a €200 discount from your total for every additional friend you bring along. Don’t forget – the Fundraising Team here in the Hospice will be on-hand to support your efforts, whether that be through social media, letters of verification, posters and flyers, collection buckets or sponsorship cards. We’re also full of ideas on how you can raise funds. Just a few examples of the best fundraising activities from last year were as follows:

  • Bag packing
  • Church gate collections
  • Pub quizzes
  • Raffles
  • Sponsored walks
  • Car boot sales

But if you’re new to fundraising, don’t worry, we’re here to help, and we’d be happy to help you plan your activities and make sure you have everything you need.

We do hope you’ll join us this year for what promises to be an amazing trek.
