Christmas 2019 –

Thank you for your help!

To the many thousands of people who attended our annual Light Up A Life event and remembrance ceremony in Harold’s Cross last year – thank you. Thanks to your help we raised over €454,000 – a truly mammoth effort that will go a very long way towards helping us continue our supply of the very best loving care and support to both the patients in our care and their familes.

For many, the Light Up A Life event marked the official start of Christmas. Celebrating 140 years of Our Lady’s Hospice and Care Services, we were delighted to welcome Andrea Corr as our guest of honour last year; once again Ian Dempsey did a fantastic job as MC on our outdoor stage.

Our Light Up a Life ceremony and celebration 2020 will be taking place on Sunday the 6th December at 3:45pm in the beautiful grounds of Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services, Harold’s Cross. We have not yet released the name of this year’s special guest so be sure to check back here for updates!

We hope you will be able to join us for this moving and magical event again in 2020.

An entertaining day for your whole family filled with uplifting songs, Christmas merchandise, food and more!

It really was an occasion to remember, with marvelous musical acts, including the St. Mary’s Pro-Cathedral Girls Choir, Sopranos Geraldine McNamara, and Eimear Mangan, who performed songs that got everyone feeling festive.

Hot apple punch, soup and mince pies were all enjoyed while people soaked up the amazing atmosphere. The highlight of the evening was the lighting of our magnificent Light Up A Life Christmas tree. Every year, thousands of people sponsor beautiful lights in the name of their friends or loved ones who have passed. The lights are then displayed in their honour for the entire Christmas period. It’s a wonderful way to pay tribute  to those who meant – and still mean – so much to us.

All year through!

Christmas is a special time for remembrance but it is also lovely to remember your loved ones at other times during the year. The names that people remember when they sponsor a light will remain on our website all year round – so if you would like to remember someone today then you can do so, no need to wait for Christmas.

Sponsoring a light costs just €6 and it’s really easy to do. Just go to our special commemorative website,, where you can share personal tributes, such as memories, poems, stories or post photos. Celebrate someone special. Light up their life.

Last year’s Special Guest of honour was Andrea Corr. Please check back here to see who we announce for 2020!
