Light Up A Life
On behalf of the Fundraising Team and all the staff at Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services, thank you to everyone who attended and took part in our 2018 Light Up a Life Event. Although there was a short rainstorm at one point, our spirits never dampened – we rushed into action with emergency ponchos and everyone took it in their swing with a smile… the lovely hot soup served up by the Reserve Defence Forces helped as well!
We are delighted to announce that our 2018 event attracted a huge crowd and we raised more than € 400,000 in total, all of which will be going to support our front line services that enable us to provide continued loving care for the patients and their families here in the Hospice.
The event was proudly supported by a range of local firms including our lead supporter, Aviva. To all these firms who gave their support our sincere thanks.
To the Reserve Defence Forces – we simply could not run this event without your support each year – thank you all!
Light up a Life has offered great solace and joy to so many people since it began in 1992. Our website, www.lightupalife.ie, has over 27,000 people lovingly remembered through lights sponsored in their name. The website also proved to be a hit with people who wanted to buy their Christmas gifts online and have them delivered by post.
We would like to extend a special thank you to all our acts who supported the event:
- Palestrina Boys Choir
- St Jude’s Folk Group
- The Lineup
- CIE Male Voice Choir
- Geraldine McNamara
and finally a thank you to our very special guest of honour, Jim Gavin, who together with the MC, Ian Dempsey, plus guests appearances from Marty Morrissey, Joanne Cantwell and all the Dublin football club players from both the men’s and women’s teams, who all came together to make the whole event one of the best we have ever seen.
Light Up A Life 2019 will take place on Sunday 1st December; we hope you will be able to join us once again to help us celebrate the lives of loved ones and to mark the start of the Christmas Season.
