Our Open Garden at Blackrock Hospice coincides with our annual Little Flower of Life event. As well as our beautiful garden enjoy an afternoon of music from some well known performers and choirs. Little Flower of Life is a family friendly day with ice cream and face painters for children and everyone is welcome to attend.
At Little Flower of Life you will have the opportunity to sponsor a flower for €5 in memory of someone special. Their name will be included on a specially designed card and placed next to the flower. On the day a host of flowers provide a profusion of colour within the garden and throughout the summer months.
Plants are also available to purchase and our Head Gardener Eileen Nolan will be on hand to give tips and advice.

Garden Description: The garden at Blackrock Hospice is surrounded by mature trees providing shade and shelter to create a quiet tranquil environment for our patients. All the rooms open on to an extensive patio area framed by raised beds of standard Camellias, Hydrangeas and classic topiary pom pom box plants which are combined with seasonal colours and scented flowers. Award winning Chelsea Garden is also located on the site.
During the summer months the garden is a profusion of seasonal colour displaying all the plants for our Flower of Life event.
The pond is situated in the centre of the garden providing soothing sounds of water in one section and bright colours of water lilies and irises in the smaller area.
Directions: The Blackrock Hospice is located on Sweetman’s Avenue, just off the Frascati Road. Sweetman’s Avenue is almost opposite the Blackrock Garda Station. The Hospice is located directly behind a block of apartments called “ Les Buissonets” and to the front of the Blackrock Business Park.
(The Hospice building was formerly the Carmelite Convent).
Approaching from the Rock Road and Mount Merrion Avenue direction, proceed through Blackrock Village onto the Main Street, then straight on to Temple Road (Maxwell Motors) and turn right back onto Frascati Road – Sweetman’s Avenue will be located on your left hand side
Approaching from Carysfort Avenue, continue until you reach the junction of Convent Road and Brookefield Avenue. Turn right onto Brookefield Avenue and the left onto Sweetman’s Avenue and just as you approach the exit to Frascati Road, the Hospice Building will be on your left hand side.
Approaching from the direction of Monkstown Road; Stradbrook Road; Newtownpark Avenue and Seapoint Avenue, continue onto the Frascati Road and just before you come to the main Blackrock Village, the exit for Sweetman’s Avenue will be on your left hand side and the Hospice building will be to the right.
