The majority of healthcare professionals working in hospitals, primary care facilities and the community are dealing with patients who have dementia on a regular basis. This 8-week distance learning course is aimed specifically at helping healthcare professionals effectively treat this group of patients and support those who matter to them.
The focus of this certificate is to address the needs and challenges of providing palliative and end-of life care to people with dementia. Issues addressed will include areas such as symptom management, clinical challenges, ethical dilemmas, communication issues, managing distressing behaviour, with the overall aim being to improve the quality of care in dementia.
