Blackrock Hospice, part of Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services, provides with loving care, high quality, person-centred health and social care services in the Hospice and community.

Volunteer Drivers are key to ensuring that patients can reach the services they vitally need here at Blackrock Hospice. Drivers provide transport for Day Hospice to collect and return visitors/patients/family members to Blackrock Hospice or their home by prior arrangement with staff.

As a driver, you role will be to make patients/visitors feel comfortable at all times e.g. gentle conversation and to represent the Hospice by having a friendly, sensitive and courteous manner in all dealings with visitors, patients, staff and the public. We are currently looking for 2 drivers available primarily on Tuesdays or Wednesdays weekly. Training, support and reimbursement of expenses is provided.

What’s required for this position:

  • Valid full driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Comprehensive Insurance
  • Access to a vehicle that is roadworthy, reliable, clean and suitable for client’s needs
  • No health conditions that may impair ability to drive safely
  • Mature, personable manner
